Sonic Frontiers Release Date Leaked Accidentally…
Sonic Frontiers is also coming to Gamescom 2022 as a part of the Opening Night Live 2022 show. Fans will also get to try out the game at the event as stated by the lead producer of the Sonic Team, Takashi Iizuka. The game is now expected to release on November 8, 2022, thanks to the unplanned announcement of the release date. Sonic is a pretty big thing in Japan, and the Sega company, too, for that matter. Sega, being a Japanese company, makes sure to air commercials earlier in Japan and, in this case, a Sonic Frontiers commercial, but there was no apparent evidence of a release date in it. However, the commercial trailer had also been uploaded to Youtube with a release date included as well. We guess SEGA realized they messed up and went ahead and changed the video settings to Private. Twitter user @Tracker_TD noticed this first and reported it on Twitter.
The Sonic Frontiers trailer shown on Japanese TV has shown up on YouTube, with one big difference… November 8th! pic.twitter.com/W35iOtJL3g — Tracker (@Tracker_TD) August 23, 2022 Previously, we got to see tons of promotional material for Sonic Frontiers merchandise since Sega is also in the merchandise and toy business. And the promotional material hinted that the game is set to release around November 15, 2020, but the information stated in the now removed trailer seems to conflict with the latter information. Going down memory lane, the PlayStation Network Backend revealed a listing that gave us a November 15, 2022 release date for Sonic Frontiers, which was initially noticed by PlayStation game Size. While fans are concerned that the game might be delayed inevitably since SEGA hasn’t had a good track record with Sonic games in terms of polishing, as we witnessed with Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, and Sonic 06, which had tons of clipping issues, numerous bugs, and glitches to go around with the titles. However, Sega is confident that the game is ready to ship out and has stated that they have no plans to delay Sonic Frontiers, following the mixed comments from fans and media sites. #Delayed Sonic Frontiers was trending back in June on Twitter after many Sonic fans took to the platform to display their disappointment over the subpar unfinishined-looking game in action. It was in a financial briefing a month ago that the Sega Sammy Senior Executive Vice President Koichi Fukazawa and the Executive Vice President Makoto Takahashi answered a few questions on the topic and ones related to the release date for the title. One question asked if Sega was considering postponing the release of Sonic Frontiers in order to further improve and polish the title, following up on feedback from the gaming community and the press. Gamescom Opening Night Live Host Geoff Keighley stated at the beginning of August that a new world premiere and news regarding Sonic Frontiers will be shown during the Opening Night Live Show, which airs today. The Sonic series has done some crazy things over the years with a weird RPG for the Wii and the awkward Werehog one, Sonic Unleashed, that had some decent daytime stages. With that said, Frontiers seems to feature the biggest changes in the series yet. While previous titles had big maps and stages, they focused on linear stage progression, but now we’re getting an open world map. Contrary to the bright, colorful, and artistic map designs of previous Sonic games, we’re getting something entirely different. This time, we’ll get to explore a more natural and realistic-looking world with islands, foliage, grasslands, and dense forestry. But, the randomly placed rails hovering everywhere seem to be a bit out of place for the map design. Fans left some mixed comments that although they’re excited about the upcoming Sonic Frontiers game, the randomly placed rails with the Unreal Engine-esque-generated map gave the game the feel of an unfinished fan project. What was interesting for the most part was the introduction of melee-focused combat, combos, and dodges. Sonic will now be able to access and unlock combat abilities as the game progresses, which is contrary to sonic’s combat style featuring homing attacks and bouncing on enemy heads to subdue them. Fans aren’t all that happy with what we’ve gotten so far, and some extreme fans have gone so far as to report the game on Steam to mark it as “Not Safe For Work,” contains “Sexual Content and “Psychological Horror” While that would be true for Sonic fan works, that’s certainly not the case here. But Takashi Iizuka states fans don’t understand what the Sonic Team is bringing to the table, and he’s not surprised. Sonic Frontiers is being developed by Sega’s original Sonic Team, which is being headed by producer Takashi Iizuka. He’s been a key member of the team and the series ever since he became famous as the Game Designer for Sonic 3. Despite working on some interesting games, the likes of Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors, and some not-so-interesting ones like Sonic Lost World and Sonic Forces, few people know the ins and outs of Sonic as he does. He’s aware of the current mixed reception of the game, and he isn’t surprised. He went on to state that fans still quite don’t understand what type of “open zone” game the Sonic Team is making. Sonic Frontiers has finally gotten a release date thanks to the leak, and while the producer states that fans don’t understand the direction of the sonic team in regards to the new open-world design, fans will be the judge of that one game releases in November 8, 2022. Sonic Frontiers is coming to the Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on November 8, 2022. So, are you excited for Sonic Frontiers with the release date near, or do you think it’s going to be a garbage game similar to what we’ve experienced in the past? Let us know in the comments below.
