The Persona series is built on a unique concept of self-exploration and the human psyche. The series became very popular outside Japan when the first part of the spin-off series, ‘Revelations: Persona’ was released for North American players in 1996 on PlayStation. The series has had several games since then, with the latest mainline entry, ‘Persona 5,’ released in 2016. Persona 5 Royal is a remastered version of Persona 5 and was released in 2020 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. The popular series was missing from mainstream consoles like Xbox and Nintendo Switch, but last month, Atlus confirmed that Persona 5 Royal would be released for next-gen consoles, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on 21st October 2022.

Persona 5 Royal became popular in North America, and also made a mark in Europe and Australian markets, and sold over 15 million copies worldwide. The fans are really excited about the series finally coming to the mainstream platforms and utilizing the next-gen capabilities. The Persona 5 Royal is mere 10 days away from its release on Xbox, and Nintendo Switch and Atlus have announced the re-release of the two other classics, Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden, for the next-gen consoles. Atlus announced the release date for the titles through a tweet:

Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden release for modern platforms on January 19, 2023! #P3P #P4G pic.twitter.com/OrAx46j8XG — Official ATLUS West (@Atlus_West) October 8, 2022 The release date was made public after the first day of the live event “Persona Super Live 2022 P-Sound WISH 2022,” the live event was part of Persona’s 25th Anniversary celebrations. Persona 3 was initially released for PlayStation 2 in 2006 and for PlayStation Portable in 2009. It was well received by the fans as well as the critics. The tweaks in the mechanics of Persona 3 Portable and the ability to choose a female protagonist differentiates the game from the series’ other titles. Persona 4 Golden is also releasing alongside P3P. Interestingly Persona 4 Golden has been available on Steam since 2020 and has been proving itself with excellent reviews but still missing from the Xbox. Persona 4 Golden is a remastered version of Persona 4 and was released for PS2 in 2008 and PS Vita in 2012. The game became popular on Vita and sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide. Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden will be released on 19th January 2023 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It’s really exciting news for Persona fans, as 3 of the best titles of the series will be available soon on Xbox and PC.
