Starting with the PlayStation App, PlayStation Stars will eventually make its way to consoles. Anyone over the age of 18 with a PlayStation Network account can sign up, and membership is free (though PlayStation Plus does add some perks). After joining PlayStation Stars, a new icon will appear next to your profile avatar and name on the PlayStation app’s leftmost tab. There, you may check your current level, the campaigns you’ve participated in, the rewards you’ve earned, and the collectibles you’ve unlocked. Sony’s new PlayStation Stars reward points program will let gamers earn points redeemable for real-world commodities. Participating players will be able to earn points that may be redeemed on the PlayStation Store or for other benefits by completing objectives, some of which are as basic as playing a game once every month. Like the My Nintendo programme on the Switch, PlayStation Plus members will earn points for purchasing items from the shop, and the catalog of items ” may include PSN wallet funds and certain PlayStation Store merchandise.” Users can earn “digital collectibles,” which are “digital representations of things PlayStation fans enjoy, including figurines of beloved and iconic characters from games and other forms of entertainment, as well as cherished devices that tap into Sony’s history of innovation,” in addition to rewards related to the PlayStation Store. Sony has promised that rare items will be added on a regular basis to give players something to work for. With the introduction of the new PlayStation Plus levels, this service will represent yet another improvement to Sony’s digital offerings. While the base plan is comparable to the original PlayStation Plus, the intermediate and top tiers add hundreds of games, much like Xbox Game Pass.
