The new version of the browser fixed crash issues that were experienced by some users while editing files on Office 365 sites. The team also resolved the Linux crash problem that previously occurred when a user changed the playback speed in YouTube videos. Finally, Mozilla fixed and enabled the Windows 10 Parental Control in the browser. However, if you are want to update your browser, probably it’s not a good idea. Those who installed the recent version of the browser started experiencing a new problem. The version reportedly breaks the download functionality in case if parental control is active on your Windows 10 system. More specifically, you won’t be able to download any files after installing Firefox version 69.0.2. Fortunately, this problem didn’t affect all Windows 10 users with active parental controls. The forum reports suggest this problem has something to do with Windows 10 Home version. Firefox users reported the issue on Reddit and described the problem in the following manner. “After updating to version 69.0.2, any files I try to download fail with no error. In the download panel it just says Failed and the retry button does nothing. Things such as doc files show up in my download folder with 0kb size, but it seems like small image files will download even though it says “Failed” in the download panel. Other things such as archive files will show up in the downloads folder as PART files as if the download initiates but just never starts.”
How To Fix Firefox 69.0.2 Download Problem
Thankfully, Mozilla has already confirmed the bug and mentioned it as unresolved in the release notes. “File downloads may not work for Windows 10 users with Parental Control enabled.” Not only this, the developers were quick to release and test a patch for the Nightly build. However, as of now, the fix has not been released for the stable build. Those who are experiencing this issue in the stable builds should remove the browser from their systems. You can then download and install Firefox version 69.0.1. Moreover, you should also go to the settings menu in order to block automatic updates. Some other users managed to fix this issue by turning off parental controls on their systems. Moreover, you can also follow this step-by-step guide that helps you to remove your device from the family group. If none of the above-mentioned solutions worked for you, consider using another browser such as Edge or Chrome. Mozilla is actively working to fix the issue and we hope that a fix will be available within the next few days.
